A Florida-based restaurant group needed a new vision for a Fort Lauderdale restaurant that lost its competitive position in the crowded space of Italian cuisine. The existing menu and interiors had run their cycle and lacked creativity and inspiration.

Playground Hospitality conducted an in-depth market analysis, including a breakdown of target audiences, development of customer demographic profiles, a detailed competitive analysis, and a review of today’s food and restaurant trends.

Our analysis revealed the need for a casually sophisticated Italian restaurant and we presented a new concept inspired by the land, the water and the people of coastal Italy: Terra Costiera.

The Concept

The Terra Costiera concept focuses on providing a casual dining experience featuring a wood fire grill and open kitchen, a mozzarella and bruschetta bar, an olive oil and vinegar tasting experience, as well as a full bar and delicious dining menu that capture the essence of Italy’s coastal lands.

The interior design is striking, contemporary and coastal-inspired, featuring a natural color palette, rich textures and organic materials including wood and marble. Collections of olive oils, vinegars and wines bring harmony to the space.

Outdoor appeal is achieved with a substantial dining and bar area, as well as café style market seating. A grab & go counter and delivery options are available to those who prefer to bring the Terra Costiera experience home.

This new concept was designed to provide an excellent financial model for maximum profitability and possible expansion.
